Common Houseplant Mistakes

We all make them! Here are a few common pitfalls to avoid on your plant journey.

A wilted, sad-looking plant.

Overwatering

This is the number one mistake. We love our plants, so we want to give them lots of water. But too much love can kill them. Overwatering suffocates the roots and leads to root rot. Always check the soil before you water.

Not Enough Light

We might want a plant for a dark corner, but if that plant needs bright light, it will slowly decline. Research your plant's light needs and place it in a spot where it will be happy.

Using the Wrong Pot

A pot without a drainage hole is a recipe for disaster. It traps water at the bottom, leading to root rot. Always use a pot with a hole, or use a plastic nursery pot inside a decorative cache pot.
