Signs of Overwatering
- Yellowing leaves, especially lower ones.
- Soft, mushy stems at the base.
- Wilted leaves, even when the soil is wet.
- A sour or rotten smell from the soil.
- Stunted growth.
How to Save an Overwatered Plant
If you catch it early, simply stop watering and let the soil dry out. If the problem is severe, you may need to repot. Remove the plant, inspect the roots, trim any that are black and mushy, and repot in fresh, dry, well-draining soil.
