Winter Plant Care

Help your plants survive and thrive during the coldest, darkest months.

Dormancy is Normal

Most plants enter a period of dormancy in the winter. Growth will slow or stop completely. This is normal. The most important thing you can do is reduce watering. Since the plant isn't actively growing, it doesn't need as much water. Overwatering is the biggest danger in the winter.

Humidity

Indoor heating can make the air extremely dry. Many tropical plants will suffer from low humidity. You may see an increase in brown, crispy leaf tips. To combat this, you can use a humidifier, mist your plants, or group them together to create a more humid microclimate.
